Hello all! Back again with another roundup. Yesterday was quiet on the driving front, in fact we hadn’t turned the car on at all.
Just like yesterday, it was a relatively late start to the day. We checked out and set off from the hotel around 10AM making our way to the Royal Yatch Britannia.
1st Destination: Royal Yatch Britannia, Leith
This is essentially a 126 metres long Royal home at sea. There are luxurious bedrooms, offices, tea rooms and even entertainment areas for the royalty when the ship was in use.
It was decommissioned in 1997 after travelling over a million miles across the globe. Walking through the ship, the opulence is evident.
After completing the tour of the ship and lunch at Zizzi’s, we set off for our next destination around 2:30PM.
2nd Destination: Loch Ard, The Trossachs National Park
For some inexplicable reason, I had been looking forward to this leg of the journey the most. The park is home to several lakes (Lochs) and our hotel was overlooking one such lake, Loch Ard.
The drive up to our hotel was through narrow, winding roads…a little perilous at times. But I was absolutely amazed by the natural beauty on display here. Parts of the road we were driving on were barely a couple of metres away from some of the lakes.
After checking in, we decided to go on a walk recommended by one of the hotel staff member. The “walk” turned into a trek! A trek that lasted about two and a half hours. A trek deep through the forest on dirt trails involving steep climbs. There wasn’t a single person or structure in sight for long stretches of the trail and the elevation afforded us some gorgeous views of Loch Ard and the mountains beyond.
Soon the day came to an end and it was time to rest up once again. Ready for another chapter on the trip. A chapter that will no doubt include further exploration of the Trossachs National Park.
Thats the Day 4 roundup of the road trip. Find the roundup of the other days down below:
