This week in movie trailers

Here’s a round up of the biggest and most noteworthy trailers from the last 7 days.

The Mummy

An ancient princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension. (IMDb)

This looks pretty good to me. I like that the filmmakers are taking a more serious approach to this mythos. Sofia Boutella looks pretty badass as the mummy princess. We all remember her as the blade leg lady from Kingsman and she was awesome! I’m really looking forward to her performance now that there is a lot more focus on her character. Tom Cruise looks good too…just like he always does running through an action movie. For me, the best thing about this trailer is how low-key Tom Cruise’s character seems. Its really nice to see that a big name like that doesn’t demand to take over all the marketing. The connection between the mummy princess and Tom Cruise’s character seems really interesting too….she is wrecking shit all over the place but keeps him alive for some reason. Maybe his character is much more than a mere human…?

The Mummy comes out in the middle of the summer on 9th June.

I Am Heath Ledger

I Am Heath Ledger is a feature length documentary celebrating the life of Heath Ledger: actor, artist and icon. The documentary provides an intimate look at Heath Ledger through the lens of his own camera as he films and often performs in his own personal journey. (IMDb)

This caught me by surprise. Any rumblings of this went completely under my radar. It gave me chills. Heath Ledger tackled several iconic roles but perhaps he is most known for how much he engrosses himself into a role which is perfectly epitomised in his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight – arguably the greatest comic book movie ever made largely due to his performance. This documentary promises a behind the camera look at the man that was Heath Ledger and it looks absolutely fascinating.

This documentary is unlikely to be released outside of the USA but I can’t wait to eventually catch it on iTunes or Netflix.

All Eyez on Me

The true and untold story of prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur. (IMDb)

Just watch the trailer. There is absolutely nothing I can say that is more or better than the feels this trailer gives you. I just hope that we not only get to see the extraordinary man that he was but also his shortcomings. That being said, Demetrius Shipp Jr. is absolutely spot on as Tupac Shakur.

All Eyez on Me comes out later this year on 15th June here in the UK and 16th June in the USA

These are some of the most notable trailers to come out in the past 7 days. After you’ve watched them all, let me know what you think.

Which ones are you looking forward to the most? Let me know – Tweet me or find me on Facebook.

Stay awesome!
